Relationships:
Generosity, Betrayal, Forgiveness
“Writing our deep stuff gives
us a safe path to experiencethose challenges and opportunities that we
probably shouldnot try to live out in the real world.
But how much more authentic our work
if we have plumbed our depths and looked, not only at our skeletons, but
at the most noble parts of our shadow sides--our inner warriors and princesses,
our inner mages and priest(esse)s, our inner executives and crafts workers.
This work is not about destroying the ego. In fact, an intact and healthy
ego is necessary to allow one to consider the desires that would take
one away from the job, the family, the lifestyle, without acting on them.
How lucky we are to be writers, to
be able to develop the skill to tell these stories and live them out through
our work with our readers, and to give our readers a glimpse inside themselves
by looking deeply into our own mirrors. What we do is important work.”

Reflection on the Black
and White Gate
Angeles Arriens says that we must
approach the black & white gate with a partner, so that we can heal
from the projections on each other, but for my partner, I chose the Shadow,
the dark goddess, those parts of myself that I have been afraid to face.
They are only dark because I have turned away from them, because I have
closed my eyes to them. I think of those parts as Shadow because I convince
myself that I face the light, and I have put those parts behind us.
It is from the depths that Truth
comes. My best writing and artwork comes from the back of my head, where
my connection to my Inner Self is. The images on these slides are details
of the painting linked below.
